Many people are rapidly recognizing the value of using solar power for their home and business. They can see the usefulness on several levels: environmentally friendly, freedom from dependency on oil, coal and nuclear based electricity and last, but certainly not least, financial savings.
Whatever the reason, solar energy is becoming more widespread on a daily basis. Driving through almost any neighborhood nowadays will produce a visual sighting of some kind of solar energy producing unit on a roof or two. These are noticeable because they usually stick up in the air several feet from the roof.
For those homeowners who don't want their solar decisions to stick out like a sore thumb there is something called BIPV, which stands for Building Integrated PhotoVoltaic. These are photovoltaic modules, which convert sunlight into electricity. Nothing new in that, but these modules are fully integrated into the roofing materials so they don't have to be on raised racks on the roof for every body to see.
